Christmas Stroll Weekend Is A Wonderful Time To Visit Cape Cod

November 4th, 2012 by Mike Cassels

Yotsuba & ChristmasThe first weekend in December this year brings two fantastic opportunities to get into the holiday spirit BIG TIME! Sunday Dec 2nd is the Yarmouth Port Christmas Stroll, where you can stroll along beautiful Old King’s Highway in our village from store to B & B to eating and drinking establishments, all offering samples of their home-cooking plus warming hot drinks. You’ll get some  great gift ideas too, and that’s always a good thing a couple of weeks before Christmas.

The same weekend also brings the Nantucket Christmas Stroll, so pretty and jovial with all the stores and streets decorated in the holiday spirit.

So we have decided to wrap both Strolls into a fantastic weekend special deal, take a look and see if we can tempt you!

Cape Cod chocoholics delight, Feb 5, 2011

January 31st, 2011 by cassels

Gratis chocolate  What could be better to brighten up the winter blues than to indulge BIG-TIME in one of your favorite pastimes – that is, chocolate! This weekend brings the 6th Annual Osterville Chocolate Festival, when on Saturday February 5th, between 10 am and 4 pm you can enjoy events and activities throught the village, which is just a short drive from our inn.

Activities include the Great Chocolate Bake Off Contest which isn’t just fun but will also benefit the Hyannis Food Pantry. So why not combine a stay here on our “Beat the Winter Blues”  special with some yummy fun? Then come back to relax in front of your own fireplace, maybe grab some afternoon tea and home-made cookies before going to dinner at one of the fantastic local restaurants.  Hope to see you soon!

Cape Cod’s hidden antique treasures

February 20th, 2010 by cassels

Antique Furniture in the Meeker Mansion, Puyallup, Washington by Steve G. Bisig.Cape Cod is a fantastic place to spend a few days “treasure hunting”, ie, looking for little gems in hidden corners of antique-filled barns. Try to organise your visit to tie in with an estate sale, if you can, so that you can make the most of your time. One of the biggest companies who do these sales  is Stem to Stern, and today we were lucky enough to pick up a fabulous chest of drawers, for an unbelivable price, from a home in Hyannis. Next weekend there will be another one in Cummaquid, which is just a couple of minutes from our bed & breakfast inn

Also, just a few minutes from us, is the Antique Center of Cape Cod, in Dennis village. This wonderland of antiquities comprises of 3 separate buildings – you could spend  the best part of the day just milling around to find something that appeals.

A renowned auction house close to the inn is Eldred’s, where auctions of important items are held most months. They attract visitors from all over the country, and we have had several guests at the inn who are here specifically for one of their specialised auctions.

Another great venue for value pieces is the Sandwich Auction House. Usually held on Saturdays, this is a great way to be introduced to bidding. Even if you don’t buy, you’ll certainly enjoy the experience.

To round off an absorbing weekend, why not walk from our inn along Yarmouth Port’s Main Street and visit one or two of our local antique shops, or extend your search to the many private homes along 6A, which sell antiques, and are well sign-posted. We hope to see you soon!

Our Cape Cod Bed Breakfast is currently running the “Friends” special. Get away with a couple of friends for a night or two during the long winter months and we will give you 20% off your rooms! That is off the already reduced off-season rates!

Our Bed and Breakfast in Cape Cod also has a series of “indulgences” to make your stay even more pleasant. Chocolates, flowers, wine & cheese, or even in-room massages! Think about it, come now while room rates are down and have a little extra cash for a massage!

A nice place to visit for a day trip is the Shawne-Crowell State Forest. About 18 miles from us in Sandwich, the forest has about 15 miles of trails and it is an ideal place to come for a brisk winter walk with lunch. Another one of our Cape Cod Bed Breakfast indulgences is a picnic lunch.  We include fresh sandwiches, Cape Cod chips, fresh fruit, home-made cake and soda. This could be just the thing that you need to wake you up and help you really enjoy our fireplaces and luxurious tubs.
