Great news is that you still have that nostalgic walk across the tarmac, but NO, you cannot fly to Sydney or Singapore direct! But all in all it is a great improvement, and offers travelers comfort and space, as well as refreshments and car rentals. Lots of tourist information will be available as well, so arrivals will get help if they haven’t already planned their stay.We use this airport to fly to Nanucket when we get the chance – the views are spectacular and this scenic flight takes only 15 minutes. You can use Island Air , Cape Air or Nantucket Airlines for your flight, and some of these lines also fly further afield, including to Boston. The airport is also trying to get flights to La Guardia, New York, which would be just fantastic. Lots of our guests spend time in New York before coming to the Inn, and a direct flight to Cape Cod would save them heaps of precious vacation time, as we are located just 10 minutes drive from this new terminal. New Yorkers: hope to see you soon – in the meantime, you can take the 4 hour road trip instead to Cape Cod!

You may have noticed that we have another reason the be interested: the inn’s likeness to the White House! Guests love the idea that they are staying in a “mini” White House, although we have to say that we probably cannot compete with the opulence inside the building! If we have piqued your interest in staying at the inn, please check out our great winter deals for more information. We do hope to welcome you here soon.

With so many anniversaries being celebrated of late by our guests here, we might have been forgiven for letting one or two of our own slip by unnoticed. As far as our guests are concerned, it would be hard for them to find a more suitable location for any celebration, than one of the historic inns along Cape Cod Bay. The serene natural beauty takes some beating, but if you add to that, the enormous wealth of things to see and do and of course the first class restaurants and taverns you can walk to from our inn, the formula is irresistable.

We celebrated the fifth anniversary of our arrival in the USA and acquisition of The Inn At Cape Cod towards the end of October – it feels every bit as exciting five years on, to be in this wonderful country! That we finally ended up on Cape Cod, with so many fine US destinations to choose from, was simply an affair of the heart, and our beautiful building, the icing on the cake. And yes, we managed our own little celebration one evening with a nice French couple, who were celebrating their 5 night honeymoon here at our Inn.

If you are unable to find one of our packages to tempt you, why not give us a call, tell us what you are looking for, and we’ll very quickly put a package together just for you. In the meantime, my lovely partner and I shall continue our own celebration of living our dream.

Mile upon mile of historic pastel colored clapboard compliments the stunning natural beauty and gently lapping waters of this thirty mile long conservation area. Residents proudly adorn their homes and businesses with wreaths, candles and fairy lights, creating a warming and spectacular drive along Route 6A.

Well the good news is that you can come and share this occasion, staying at one of the fine historic bed and breakfasts in the heart of this winter wonderland. Many are currently offering value added Festive Packages, ourselves included, at affordable prices that will not disappoint.

We are hoping that your research may lead you irresistibly to Yarmouth Port. Our historic sea-side village, which has many hidden treasures to offer you such as its museums, art galleries and fifty or so sea-captain’s houses, also boasts three of the Cape’s best restaurants, each one offering a different style of cuisine.

A stroll along the local romantic Grays beach and boardwalk, especially to witness the sunset, can of course sharpen the appetite in more ways than one. However, if you are looking for a bit of festive fun, the Yarmouth Christmas Stroll set for December 4th is an event not to be missed, followed by the lighting of the Christmas Tree on the Village Green.

Before you bid your sad farewell, why not spend some time looking for unique Christmas gifts. Our own favorite gift shop is Peach Tree Designs, a five minute walk from our Inn. It never fails to inspire one’s imagination. And if you have time on your way off the Cape, visit Mashpee Commons shopping village, where you’ll find some interesting gift shops.

A total of 46 restaurants across all of Cape Cod will participate in the semi-annual Restaurant Week, offering 3 or 4 course exhibition menus with prix fixe pricing of just $25 – $35 per person. So you get to experience the creativity of some of New England’s best chefs at incredible prices! At the Inn, we are very lucky to be within walking distance of two of the participating restaurants: The Old Yarmouth Inn, just two minutes walk from us, and The Lyric, only ten minutes walk away. Both are personal favorites of ours, and we certainly don’t need much encouragement to dine at either one. Alternatively, you might consider The Naked Oyster, yet another favorite of ours, and only ten minutes by car in Hyannis Main Street. If that’s not being spoilt for choice we don’t know what is.

So why not combine a stay at the inn, (taking advantage of our great May deals) with a couple of wonderful meals at one of the many participating restaurants. Hope to see you soon!

It’s so heartening to learn that the whale population is back in Cape Cod waters – it heralds the start of another wonderful summer season. Since the word got out last week of sightings all along the northen and eastern coasts of the Cape, our guests have taken the opportunity to drive along to see what it was all about – and none came back disappointed! Even the rare Right Whales are back, in greater numbers than last year. That will be a huge relief for the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), whose dedicated local staff and volunteers work tirelessly to protect and rescue these, and many other, marine creatures. But you don’t need to take the chance of not seeing the whales, just get yourself on an organised whale-watching excursion. Our local one, Hyannis Whale Watcher is just 10 minutes from the inn and they will start running on May 16, 2011. But if you can’t wait till then, why not take the Dolphin Fleet out of Provincetown, as they are already running wonderful trips to see whales, dolphins, seals & porpoises in their summer feeding grounds Stellwagen Bank. So why not treat yourself to a stay at the inn? Combine whale-watching with relaxation and some great local dining: The award-winning Old Yarmouth Inn, is just a short stroll away from us, or maybe try Lyric, just a ten minute walk, where your meal will be accompanied by piano music, and if you are lucky some lovely singing from the owner Anne. We hope to see you soon!

Amidst all the springtime beauty on the Cape this time of year, there are a host of interesting places that reopen for the season. We welcome back all of these, but none more so than The Gorey House, which is a gentle five minute walk from our bed and breakfast, The Inn At Cape Cod, on Yarmouth Port’s village green.

If you are unacquainted with the life and works of Edward Gorey, you will find an hour in this museum a richly rewarding experience, and you will doubtless come away with a gift or two from the shop – you are in for a treat!

There are many quirky exhibits to help celebrate the 10th anniversary of The House, and the admission price remains extremely reasonable. This acclaimed artist and writer has a considerable international following, as well as the U.S., however you do not have to be a Gorey fan to enjoy and appreciate his incredibly diverse works.

There are always a number of events and new exhibits to make all the more reason to plan a visit. For example, the 2011 special exhibit is “Edward Gorey and the Performing Arts”. Our favourite event is the annual “Pets around the Common Day”, which takes place this year in September.

The inn has never seen such illustrious machinery in the parking lot at one time!

The group arrived from Europe on Sunday afternoon, and after settling in they raced off to shoot some gorgeous sunset photos before strolling next door to the Old Yarmouth Inn for a fantastic dinner.

The head Jaguar designer stayed in our most prestigious room, the Plantation Suite, where we hope he managed a little relaxation during his whirlwind visit. On Sunday morning, after an early breakfast at the inn, the media group spent some time touring Cape Cod and taking more shots of their gorgeous cars in stunning settings. Then it was time to head towards New York to see the launch of the updated Jaguar XF.

Why not follow in their footsteps and book a break with us? Spring is so wonderful on Cape Cod, and we have some great deals on offer to tempt you. We hope to see you soon!

We are so privileged to live and operate our inn on the same street as probably the world’s leading animal welfare organisation, IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare). So it is with great interest that we read last week of another wonderful rescue, here on Cape Cod. A harbor porpoise became stranded in Wellfleet, in fact it was the third such stranding in just a week. IFAW staff were alerted to the stranding of a female juvenile harbor porpoise at 8.30 am Thursday last week. They, along with dedicated volunteers, took the creature to IFAW’s mobile clinic (a truck!) where she underwent a careful and thorough examination including blood work to establish her health levels. Thankfully, she was in very good shape was therefore a great candidate to be returned to her natural environment. She was transported to Duck Harbor and then carried out to sea on a sling. After a few minutes she acclimatised to water again and swam away. How good is that! You can learn about stranding work on this website: www.capecodstranding.net , or click here to see more IFAW rescue videos. Whale-watching is another fantastic way to support conservation of marine mammals

and our inn is only 10 minutes away from mid-Cape’s only whale-watching cruise www.whales.net. Why not combine a stay at the inn with some nature education and fun – we do hope to see you soon!
